Luggage regulations

Regulations per train company:

Thalys

Each passenger may bring along 2 large pieces of luggage and a single piece of hand luggage. At the end of each carriage, there are luggage racks where you can place your larger pieces of luggage. Since 1 February 2005, all bags on board Thalys must have a label attached containing your first name and surname.

It is not possible to take tandems or other large objects with you. Skis may taken on board both Ski-Thalys and the regular Thalys, although they must be placed in a protective cover.

For more details view the Luggage information page on the Thalys website.

TGV

Each passenger may take along 2 large pieces of luggage and a single piece of hand luggage. At either side of each carriage, there are luggage racks where you can place your luggage.

It is not possible to take tandems and other large objects with you.

Eurostar

On board Eurostar, it is possible to take large pieces of luggage with you. You do, however, need to deliver them to the luggage offices in Brussels South, London St Pancras or Paris Gare du Nord; the luggage can be collected at the station of arrival 24 hours later. This service costs € 15.

If you have accidently left your luggage on a Eurostar train, you can call the following number for information: +32 2 52 48 701.

ICE International and IC Berlin

Passengers are advised to only bring luggage that can be easily carried and stored in the spaces provided for it.

Smaller pieces of luggage can be placed in the luggage racks above the seats; for the larger pieces of luggage you may make use of the spaces between the seats that have been specifically designed for this purpose.

City Night Line

Regular sized luggage and winter sports equipment (skis, snowboards, etc.) are transported free of charge. For safety purposes, items such as skis and snowboards should be transported in the luggage compartment of the sleeping coaches. Upon request, these items may be placed in the ‘DeLuxe’ compartments.

Non-regular luggage items (such as boxes, instruments and paintings) are subject to a surcharge of € 15. This surcharge can be paid on the train.
