The Carlstadt is situated only a few steps away from the Königsallee with its famous fashion brands. In the narrow alleys around the colourful market you can find a large variety of exclusive products. Treat yourself to a delicious delicacy, nice bags, valuable antiques and beautiful accessories. But even if you’re not here for shopping, you’re sure to appreciate this fantastic part of the old centre of Dusseldorf – a real feast for the eyes, far away from the rush.

Have a delicious brunch or dinner at Malkasten

Modern architecture in the harbour

Architectuur Hafen in Duitsland

Where previously storage areas and silos stood, an interesting mix of old and new architecture has been created over the past few years. Old quayside walls, stairs and boulders have been integrated into the modern building plan – with buildings by national and international renowned architects such as Frank O. Gehry and David Chipperfield.

After a walk through this trendy area with its media, advertising and communications offices, take a break in one of the many bistros, restaurants or bars.

Kaistraße, Zollhof and surroundings.
