Thalys – the comfortable way to get to Belgium and southern France
Thalys is the ultimate high-speed train for daily connections between the Netherlands and France. In the summer, there’s the Sun-Thalys to southern France. In the winter, the Ski-Thalys takes you to the French Alps. Get there – and lots of other places – and get there fast!
Travel classes in Thalys
The Thalys has 2 travel classes: Comfort 1 and Comfort 2. Travelling in Comfort 1 means extra services and amenities:
* more legroom
* wider seats
* welcoming beverage, snack and main meal* served at your seat
* an electrical outlet next to your seat
* a choice of newspapers in various languages
* taxi reservation service in Paris
* admission to NS Hispeed Lounges at Amsterdam Central, Schiphol and Rotterdam Central stations
Plus: Starting in September, all carriages will provide WiFi: a complementary service in Comfort 1, for a fee in Comfort 2.
*Depending on when your train leaves your departure station, your main meal will be served between Amsterdam and Brussels or between Brussels and Paris.
On board the Thalys
Catering
In the bar/buffet carriage, you can order coffee, tea or another beverage, and sandwiches, salads and hot or cold snacks. You can pay cash or, for orders of at least € 10.00, with a credit card. Also for sale here: tickets for the Paris metro.
Locating your carriage
On the Thalys, the carriage numbers are located next to the exterior doors. Your ticket has your carriage number on it, so finding your carriage should be easy.
Travellers with impaired mobility
To make our trains as accessible as possible for everyone, including the elderly, visually handicapped and other passengers with impaired mobility, we provide a number of special facilities.
Luggage
You can take aboard two large pieces of luggage (max. 85 cm) and one piece of hand luggage. Luggage racks are located at the entrance to the carriages.
Taking your bicycle along
Would you like to take a standard bicycle, mountain bike, tandem, racing or reclining bicycle with you on an international train to a European destination? Some trains have a special place to put your bicycle.
Taking a pet along
Most trains allow you to take your pet with you. In certain cases, there are conditions that will have to be met.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted on board.
Thalys Timetable
The Thalys departs from Amsterdam Central seven (and sometimes nine) times a day and travels through Antwerp Central and Brussels-South to reach Paris in 3 hours and 18 minutes. Travel time to Antwerp Central is 1 hour and 12 minutes; travel to Brussels takes 1 hour and 54 minutes.

Seasonal destinations: taking the Thalys to snow and sun
Sun-Thalys
From the end of June to the end of August, Thalys can take you from Amsterdam to Valence, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and Marseilles every Saturday.
Ski-Thalys
From the end of December to March, the Thalys can take you from Amsterdam to the ski resorts in Chambéry, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-la-Plagne, Landry and Bourg-St-Maurice.
