This is reality thanks to NS Hispeed’s Fyra service. This comfortable train runs on the high-speed track and is therefore, by far, the fastest connection between Amsterdam, Schiphol, Rotterdam and Breda.

Time gain with Fyra compared to InterCity

Classes on Fyra

Fyra has two travel classes, 1st class and 2nd class, which offer:

• Comfortable seats
• Silent zones
• One carriage with reserved seats

In first class the seats are wider and there are sockets which passengers could, for example, use to charge their laptops or mobile phones.

Lounges

If you have a 1st class ticket, you can wait comfortably for your train while enjoying a free drink in the NS Hispeed Lounge in Amsterdam, Schiphol or Rotterdam.

There are comfortable writing desks complete with various socket outlets and fast internet connection, a media wall with televisions portraying the latest news and a reading table with a selection of international newspapers and magazines.

Seating

Sometimes it can be very busy on board Fyra. Passengers are standing together in a certain area of Fyra because all the seats are occupied. Often there are available seats in other areas on Fyra. If passengers step aboard the train at all entrances then they will have more chance that everyone finds a seat.

Reserved seat

When you purchase your Fyra ticket online you can pay € 1.00 extra to reserve a seat in Fyra to Breda. On the platform you will find boarding signs that will show you where the carriages with the reserved seats are located on the train. Carriage numbers are displayed on the outside of the train besides the doors, and seat numbers are displayed on the stickers above the window seats.

Luggage

Each passenger on Fyra may take along a maximum of two large suitcases and one piece of hand luggage. More information about luggage regulations

Taking your bicycle with you

Passengers are not allowed to bring a bicycle on a Fyra train. However, a folding bike packed in a bag is considered luggage and can be transported free of charge. More information about taking along bicycles

Transporting pets

Small pets may travel with you free of charge if they are transported in a cage, bag or basket. If your pet is too large to fit in a carrier, you need to buy a ‘day ticket for dogs’ for € 3. This is a 2nd class ticket, even if you are travelling 1st class. Guide dogs for the blind may travel along free of charge. More information about transporting pets

Passengers with impaired mobility

People with an OV-Begeleiderskaart (OV Guide Pass) can ask a passenger to accompany them free of charge. In that case, you purchase a ticket and a ticket supplement for yourself. When you show your OV Guide Pass, you will receive a free ticket including ticket supplement for your companion. Carriage 24 has two wheelchair places, which cannot be reserved in advance.

Fares Fyra

To travel with Fyra you need to purchase an NS ticket and a Fyra supplement. This supplement can be easily loaded onto your public transport smart card (OV-chipkaart) at one of the self service ticket machines. You can also purchase your ticket online or at one of the NS self service ticket machines at the station.

Announcement for new Fyra rates

NS Hispeed intends to have a fixed Fyra supplement for all trips within the Netherlands from 1 January 2013. The route between Amsterdam and Schiphol will be supplement free. This is a proposal that is still waiting for council from consumer organisations.

NS Hispeed wants this fixed price so that travelling will be easier for you, the customer. You pay a fixed amount regardless of the route on which you are traveling. This way you will always know exactly where you stand. The Fyra supplement for a single journey will be € 2.30 for travel in 2nd class and € 3, - for travel in 1st class. In addition, the route between Amsterdam and Schiphol will be supplement free.

For most of our passengers, the price will remain almost the same, or even lower. Once we receive an opinion from consumer organisations, we will inform you.

Weekend Fares

Travel cheaply with Fyra every weekend
Are you in the mood to go on a shopping spree or to visit events in Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Breda? Or do you need to go to Schiphol? Travelling with Fyra is extra beneficial.

With the weekend fare a single trip from Rotterdam to Amsterdam is now just € 9.50 instead of € 16.40. The weekend fare can only be purchased online.
