| Children 5 years or younger may travel along for free. However, they do not have the right their own seat. TIP: If you want your child of 5 or younger to be guaranteed a seat, purchase a children's ticket. |
The Netherlands: Up until the Dutch border children between 4 and 11 years who are accompanied by an adult may travel for € 2 - a special NS Hispeed children's fare. This rate is only applicable on international joureys. If you are travelling on a Fyra train, you must purchase a ticket supplement as well as the NS Railrunner. |
| Children between the ages of 6 and 11 years may travel with a children's ticket, which is 50% of the full fare. | Belgium: There is a special children's fare - children between the ages of 6 and 11 years pay € 2 for a one-way ticket. |
| Children older than 12 years must pay the full fare. | Germany: Children younger than 5 years may travel for free. Children between 6 and 11 may travel for free if accompanied by a parent or grandparent. Children travelling alone must pay 50% for the full fare. |

| Holders an Off-peak Discount Pass, a Route Pass, a Student OV-chipkaart or an Annual Pass may buy a RailPlus pass because they are a regular customer. | The RailPlus discount does not only apply in the Netherlands: you may also use this discount when you buy a cross-border ticket in a foreign country. |
| A RailPlus pass costs € 15 a year and will be valid in the same period as your other pass. If you have an Off-peak Discount Pass and are 60 years or older you will even receive the RailPlus free of charge! | RailPlus does not apply to trains such as the Thalys and Eurostar, but RailPlus customers can get a discount for the continuation of their journey after using the Thalys or Eurostar. |
