Roskilde festival

Roskilde, Denmark
Date: 30 June to 3 July 2011
Travel time from Amsterdam to Roskilde: 14 hours 30 minutes.

Roskilde is a festival is well-known and loved outside of Europe. The line-up this year includes Arctic Monkeys, Iron Maiden, Kings of Leon, P.J. Harvey and The Strokes.

Travel by train

You can travel directly to Denmark with the night train (CityNightLine). You can board the train at Amsterdam Central, Urecht Central or Arnhem. In Kolding you can catch a connecting train to Roskilde where several trains a day will travel to the festival grounds.

Montreux Jazz festival

Montreux, Switzerland
Date: 1 to 16 July 2011
Travel time from Amsterdam to Montreux: 9 hours 30 minutes.

The Montreux Jazz festival is one of the biggest jazz festivals which includes pop and dance in the world, and the festivals takes place for a full two weeks! Performers this year are Carlos Santana, B.B. King, George Benson, Ricky Martin, Paolo Nutini, Ziggy Marley, Sting, Seal, Paul Simon en Deep Purple.

This festival also has a few areas where you can see performances for free.

Travel by train

You can travel from the Netherlands with an ICE International train to Basel. In Basel you can catch a connecting train to Morges where several trains per hour depart to Montreux.
If you are already in Switzerland, you can travel to any of the following stations to get to the Montreux:

• Geneva
• Lausanne
• Sion
• Bern

If you are travelling from France, you can travel to any of the following stations to get to the Montreux:

• Lyon
• Dijon
• Dole
• Clermont Ferrand
• Chambery

Creamfields festival

Cheshire, England
Date: 26 and 28 August 2011
Travel time form Amsterdam to Liverpool Lime Street: 9 hours 30 minutes.

Creamfields is two day festival in Engeland and has a well established reputation. This year the following artists will be performing: Brookes Brothers, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, David Guetta, Afrojack and Armin van Buuren.

Travel by train

The best way to get to Cheshire from the Netherlands is to take the Eurostar to London St. Pancras Station. Take the Underground to Londen Euston Station, where you can catch a train to Liverpool Lime Street. At this station you can take a shuttle bus that will bring you directly to the festival grounds.

Bestival

Isle of Wight, England
Date: 9 to 12 September 2010
Travel time from Amsterdam to Southhampton Central: 8 hours 30 minutes.

Isle of Wight is also called Bestival and is held on a small island just off the coast near Porthmouth, Southhampton, Bournemouth. Performing artists: Boys Noize, Grandmaster Flash, A Trak, Omar Souleyman, The Cure and many more.

Travel by train

The best way to get to the Isle of Wight from the Netherlands is to take the Eurostar to London St. Pancras Station. Take the Underground to London Waterloo, where you can catch a train to Southhampton Central. There you take the bus to the ferry ‘Red Jet’, which will take you to the Isle of Wight.
