Not just the Netherlands and Belgium have splendid festivals; neighbouring Germany has been organising great festivals for years. Most of these festivals can be easily reached by train.

Melt Festival is an intimate music festival where rock and dance mix. This year's line-up includes: Mathew Jonson, CITIZENS!, Oliver Koletzki, Chairlift, Frittenbude, Niki & The Dove, Riton, Jacques Lu Cont en Boy
Travel by train
Take the InterCity train to Berlin where you can catch a connecting train to Dessau. From Dessau busses will depart to Ferropolis, the festival grounds. It will take you about 8 hours and 45 minutes to travel from Schiphol to the Ferropolis. If you are already in Germany, you can travel to any of the following stations to get to the festival:
• Magdeburg
• Leipzig
• Halle (Saale)

August 3th to 5th 2012
Nature One is Europe biggest outdoor festival when it comes to electronic music. This festival is held since 1995 in the first weekend of August at the former American rocket base in Pydna near Kastellaun. The music varies from house to trance to techno to hardstyle. This year, nex to 250 other artists, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Takkyu Ishino and Dj Toyax will perform.

The Berlin Festival is held at the old Tempelhof airport in Berlin. The following artists will be performing: Soulwax, 2Many Dj’s, Housemeister, Blood Red Shoes, Jesse, First Aid Kit, Washed Out, Adam Green, Editors.
Travel by train
From the Netherlands you can travel directly to Berlin. InterCity Berlin travels several times a day directly to the German capital. You can board the train in Schiphol, Amsterdam South, Duivendrecht, Hilversum, Amersfoort, Apeldoorn, Deventer, Almelo and Hengelo. Travel time form Amsterdam is about 6.5 hours.

Oktoberfest is a returning fair in Munich that starts mid September till the first weekend in October. It's the worlds largest fair with 6 million people attending every year. More information about Octoberfest can be found here
Travel by train
From the Netherlands you can travel by ICE International to Frankfurt Airport where you can transfer to another ICE to Muich Central. You can also travel by City Night Line to Munich directly from Amsterdam, Utrecht or Arnhem.
