Just about anything is possible in Technopolis, the child-friendly interactive centre for science and technology where everything is hands-on. Cycle on a cable 5 metres high, launch your own hot-air balloon and be surrounded by a soap bubble. Young and old can enjoy a day of play and learning.
Technopolis is located in Mechelen, Belgium. InterCity Brussels trains leave 16 times a day from Amsterdam, Schiphol, The Hague and Rotterdam on direct runs to Mechelen for as little as € 34.80. Travel time is 2 hours and 25 minutes, including a 5-minute bus ride (bus 682 or 283) from the Mechelen station to Technopolis. Train tickets can be purchased online or from a self service ticket machine at the train stations.
If you think one day won’t be enough, or if you’d like to spend more than one day away, there are several hotels near Technopolis that offer excellent accommodations.
Technopolis is open every day from 9.30 a.m. to 17.00 hrs. Admission costs € 11.50. Tickets for children younger than 12 cost € 9 and tiny tots younger than 3 are admitted for free. Discounts are available for senior citizens and handicapped people. Be sure to find out about the less expensive family tickets.
