It has been the pride and joy of Belgium for 160 years: the Antwerp Zoo gives you a chance to get up close and personal with 5,000 animals from all over the world while strolling through its romantic English-style garden. It is so tranquil you can hardly imagine you're wandering in the heart of a large city.
The Antwerp Zoo is located to the west of the completely renovated Central Station in the middle of Antwerp. This means that both the Thalys and the InterCity Brussels can drop you off right at the zoo’s doorstep 26 times a day. Travel time from Amsterdam Central Station is 2 hours and 5 minutes.
You can book a one-way ticket Amsterdam-Antwerp on the Thalys starting at € € 29*. Low Fixed Thalys fares are available in limited numbers and cannot be changed or cancelled after purchase. You can purchase Thalys tickets 3 months before the travel date.
If you prefer taking InterCity Brussels, one-way tickets go from € 30 or you can purchace a Benelux Weekend Return Ticket from € € 37.20
If you think one day will not be enough, or if you would like to spend more than one day away, there are several hotels near the zoo that offer excellent accommodations.
