Changing trains in Paris

from Gare du Nord to Gare Montparnasse

Travelling with the high-speed Thalys and TGV trains is a convenient way of reaching the west of France. With Thalys you can travel from Amsterdam Central, Schiphol airport or Rotterdam Central on the high-speed track to the Parisian train station Gare du Nord. From there you can take metro 4 in the direction of Porte d’Orleans till you reach Gare Montparnasse station where all TGV trains to the west of France depart. Time needed in Paris to catch your connecting train is approximately an hour; this time has been taken into account by our booking system.

Tickets for the Paris metro

The ride from the Parisian stations Gare de Nord to Gare Montparnasse is within the cities central metro zone. Tickets for the metro can be purchased onboard in Thalys, in the buffet car. This is convenient as you can avoid the queue at the ticket machine at the station. But, be quick, availability is limited.

TGV destinations in West France

There are two TGV trains that travel to the west of France: one goes to Rennes and the other to Nantes. Some destinations are reached by both lines. On the basis of your chosen departure and arrival times, the bookings system will indicate which TGV connection to take.
