OV Guide Pass poor-sighted passengers

Travelling with a guide pass

A blind or poor-sighted passenger who wants to travel by train can request an OV Guide Pass from:

NS Bureau Verstrekking Begeleiderkaarten
P.O. Box 2372
3500 GJ in Utrecht
The Netherlands

Please call +31 (0)30 235 46 61 if you would like to receive an OV Guide Pass request form.

Depending on the railway network involved when travelling (see table), the OV Guide Pass allows the guide to travel along free of charge, while the blind person travels with a ‘normal’ rail pass* (full fare, RailPlus, Benelux Youth, FIP and the like).
* Special offer fares, passes (InterRail), free tickets or proof of identity/rail passes for railways staff are excluded from this.

Special conditions:

  • The rail pass for the guide should be purchased in the country where the guide pass was issued.
  • The guide and the passenger who requires a guide should travel together in the same class.
  • The stations of arrival and departure should be the same on both rail passes.
  • The handicapped passenger should show the guide pass during ticket control.
